Humans are thirsty for many things, not just water but emotional things as well like love, acceptance, happiness, and also people. Yes, everything that I named can keep you quenched for a time being, but they’ll come a time where that water has ran out, and you’re thirsty for more like it. We love drinking this natural water, drinking it and getting thirsty again, repeatedly drinking it over and over again not knowing that the spiritual water God has never leaves us dry.
In John 4:13-14 Jesus says “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
We always look for society’s approval or satisfaction and don’t really think for a second that were already approved by the Jesus himself and that he loves us just the way we are.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 2:13, “My people have done two evils: they have turned away from me, the spring of living water. And they have dug their own wells, which are broken wells that cannot hold water.”
Through that scripture, He tells us that not only have we rejected Him and questioned whether He could fulfill our needs (which He can), but we chose to do things without his guidance and help and now we’re broken and can’t hold the spiritual water he has for us. Jesus Christ died and thirsted on the cross so that we wouldn’t have to live thirsty, so we could be full of God’s spiritual water. He became thirsty so we would never have to be thirsty again.
“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” ~C.S. Lewis
